Gas Prices Raise Scooter Demand
admin asked:
With gas prices hovering around the $4.00 a gallon mark, more and more people are buying scooters and mopeds to cut down on fuel costs.
To prove this point, there's the story of one US Wildfire moped dealer who has completely put any auto sales he may make in the coming weeks on hold, due to the overwhelming demand for cheap scooters and cheap mopeds.
He recently told a reporter that he chose the Wildfire brand to carry and sell because, unlike other Chinese scooter manufacturers, he's had no problems ordering parts for them.
Another reason, he says, is the affordability...the Wildfire moped brand starts at less than $1,000 for the small popular 50cc model.
That's one reason why it's just not the students and young adults desiring these anymore....higher gas prices now have both blue-collar and white-collar workers acquiring these as a cheaper form of transportation.
And that demand has dealers like this one often scrambling to keep up with the ever-decreasing inventory.
He says he's been advised to scoop up as many as he can from the manufacturers, as demand will likely cause both scooter and moped prices to rise.
He adds, "I just hope I can get more."
Another Wildfire dealer reached for comment said, "My customers can get almost 3 of my Wildfires for the price of 1 of the others!"
Yet another Wildfire distributor of five years added, "We have had excellent service from our dealer. They try to get any problems that might arise fixed. I have nothing but good to say with the people from Wildfire...they have excellent scooters for the money. I know firsthand...I don't have lots of service issues. If I had, I would say so!"
