We obviously went in for the top end version in the Discover range replete with the front disc brake and mag wheels and of course it had to be red, my favorite color. What we have seen to date in the market has been that the Discover has managed to get great user perception and the fact of the matter is that the large numbers she is doing has a lot to do not just with her own excellent turnout but she also rides on the back of the Pulsar's popularity. Many do think they are getting a smaller Pulsar and to a major extent that has been driving executive class bike buyers to it notably on aspirational value.
The one major aspect of the bike which brings a smile on our faces every time one swings a leg over has been the strong handling package on offer. The well thought out riding position along with the classy turnout has many buyers on a budget hooked. At a special clinic we conducted impromptu to measure biker preferences, the one thing which all were raving about was the package and the performance they got for the money they shelled out. This price-performance-package proposition is the single biggest virtue of the Bajaj Discover 135 and it has the makings of something very big provided Bajaj Auto can make enough of them, hamstrung as they are with an obvious shortage of production capacity.
Getting to the bike proper, in the few months that it has been with us, it has only been pressed into action within the city barring one brief ride. The cold winter mornings never presented any bother in firing the bike to life every morning and the greatest joy is threading her through peak hour of the city, oops traffic, the short sharp bursts of acceleration tempered with a good lugging ability making her slot into fourth as soon as possible.
The maneuverability of the Bajaj Discover 135 is outstanding as is the punchy power delivery which makes all rides, in the hands of experienced pilots, turn into top gear stints This has helped the bike to now begin delivering a fuel efficiency around the 63kmpl plus mark and this has been steadily climbing as the kilometers log on. On the overall fuel efficiency front, from the time we got her running to right now, she has averaged a very praiseworthy 59.4kmpl and that in itself is praiseworthy. The Bajaj Discover 135 is priced very well to cater a large population of the Indian market.
